Delhi is the national capital territory of India and second highest populated city in India after Mumbai. Furthermore, it is also the second wealthiest city in India after Mumbai and is abode of 23,000 millionaires. The foremost place where one must visit in Delhi, the national capital is The Red Fort. This fort had been the main residence of Mughal emperors for about 200 years and it also has number of museums. This was built on 12 may 1639 by Shah Jahan. It was built by using red sandstone and was hence named as Red Fort. This fort represents the peak of Mughal creativity. Here, you can also enjoy the light and sound show in the evening that is performed in two languages, namely English and Hindi.

Another amazing place to visit in Delhi is Qutb Minar. This minaret is regarded as a UNESCO world heritage site. This building is also made up of red sandstone and has the staircase of 379 steps. The design of this building is based upon the minaret of Jam in Afghanistan. It is a five storied building and are separated by balconies.

Another outstanding place to visit in Delhi is India Gate. This is basically a war memorial for those who died in World War first. This monument is compared with arc de Triomphe of Paris. India Gate was built on 10 February 1921.

For those who want to explore the history, Humanyun’s Tomb is the best option. This tomb was built by the first wife of Humayun and was designed by a Persian architect. Moreover, it is the first garden tomb in the Indian subcontinent. In 1993, this tomb was declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It was built in 1570 and now is the very popular tourist site in Delhi. The carvings done on the walls will definitely leave you spellbound and you can also visit the museums where you can find the remains of Mughal dynasty.

Lotus Temple

Lotus Temple is another prominent tourist attraction in Delhi. This temple is famous for its structure of lotus shaped and was completed in 1986. This temple does not belong to any one religion and is open to everyone. The amazing fact about this temple is that it has 27 marble petals standing and are arranged in clusters of three to make nine sides. Here, you will find nine gates from here you can enter. This building has won many awards for its structure and was also declared as the most visited site in 2001 by CNN. This temple is also surrounded by nine pools that add to its beauty.
